Ranking Every Nominated Film of the 96th Academy Awards
Written by Andreas Babiolakis
I’ve spent a month ranking every Academy Award nominee of 2024 in each category. I’ve given my say in as many ways as possible, all while trying to focus on why these films were nominated and not how I feel about the films overall; I try to work without bias when I rank nominees in their respective categories (a bad film can have great visual effects, and a great film can not be worthy of being nominated for its visual effects, for instance). All of that goes out the window today, as I take every film that was nominated for an Oscar at the 96th Academy Awards and rank them from worst to best. If you want to learn more about any of these films, you can click on them for full reviews either by myself or other Films Fatale writers (so if a ranking doesn’t quite reflect a review, it’s likely because I feel differently about a film than another Films Fatale contributor). Let’s not waste any time.
If you want to revisit any of the categories and their rankings, you can find them all here.
