The K Cut Episode 21: Cinematessen

Episode21.png

What goes better together than dinner and a movie? Maybe a dinner based on a movie (or movies, in this case). On this week’s episode of The K Cut, we chose fictional foods that only exist in certain films, tried to make them, and ate them. The rules state that these had to be foods that were recipes or concoctions that were eaten in any film, that doesn’t necessarily exist in real life (outside of those that were crazy enough to make their own recipes, like us).

Alas, let us present our feast.

Appetizer: Alison’s Pixy Stix Sandwich (The Breakfast Club)

Ingredients:
-White Bread (Two Pieces)
-Pixy Stix (Any Flavour)
-Cap’n Crunch Cereal
-Margarine

Cooking Time!
1) Spread margarine on your bread slices.
2) Pour your Pixy Stix tubes onto the bread, so it sticks on the margarine.
3) Put your Cap’n Crunch cereal into the sandwich; pray the pieces don’t roll all over the place.
4) Have a sugar rush for ten hours.

Main: The Big Kahuna Burger (Pulp Fiction)

Ingredients:
-Thick Slices of Ham
-Burger Bun
-Maple Syrup
-Brown Sugar
-Crushed Chilli Peppers Flakes
-Black Pepper Corns
-Sea Salt
-Cheddar Cheese
-Iceberg Lettuce
-Greek Olive Oil
-Your Favourite Condiments For Burgers
Optional: Grilled Pineapple Slice

Prep:
1) Put 1/4 cup of maple syrup in a bowl, and mix it with 2 teaspoons of brown sugar. This will be your glaze.

Cooking Time!
1) put 1 teaspoon of olive oil in the pan, and place it on an element set to medium. Swoosh it around. Add 2 more teaspoons when you’re ready to cook the ham.
2) Place ham in the pan, and sprinkle the sea salt, pepper corns, and crushed chilli flakes onto the one side. Wait for four minutes. Flip the ham (it should look golden) and repeat the addition of salt and spices.
2b) If you want to grill a pineapple slice, maybe start now.
3) Flip ham again and pour half of the glaze over the one side. Add additional spices/salt if you think it needs it (it can slide around, especially the round peppercorns). Flip the ham again a minute and a half later, and repeat.
3b) Put your burger bun in a toaster if you want it to be toasty now.
4) For the final minute, place cheese on the ham and let it melt.
5) Place your ham on your bottom bun, turn off the element (this part’s done), add whatever condiments you want (I had ketchup, as can be seen in the film); place peppercorns on if you want them to be in the burger, since they likely rolled off your ham while cooking (but the spice still went into the ham).
6) “Mmmm! This is a tasty burger!”
6b) Note: you may need a Sprite to wash the burger down.
7) Clean up the big mess that your cooking and Marvin’s head left in the kitchen; there’s no time to wait for the Wolf to get here.

Dessert: The Twinkie Wiener Sandwich (UHF)

Ingredients:
-Hot Dog Wiener
-Twinkie
-Easy Cheese

Cooking Time!
1) Grill/microwave/boil a hot dog wiener.
2) Cut open a Twinkie and place the cooked hot dog inside.
3) spray Easy Cheese on top like mustard.
4) Find great reading material that you will need for the next two hours.
